Alpha Chat is live: chat on the site, linked with our Discord

Alpha-Unit now has its own live chat, right here on the website. It works on your phone, tablet or PC, and it’s linked live with our Discord: chat from the site or from #general-chat and everyone sees everything.

Tap the 💬 bubble in the bottom-right corner of any page to jump in. Here’s everything you need to know.

Get started in 60 seconds

1. Go to alpha-unit.online on any device.
2. Tap Sign in / Join. It’s free, and you get a magic link by email, so there’s no password to remember.
3. Tap the 💬 bubble and pick your gamer tag. Your email is never shown.
4. Tap ⚙️ → Link to connect your Discord. Your Discord avatar shows on the site, and supporters get the Supporter role on the server.
5. Tap ⚙️ → 🔔 to get notified when someone @mentions you or a game night is about to start.

One conversation, two places

Messages, replies, @mentions, reactions, edits, images and clips all go both ways between the site and #general-chat. Site messages show on Discord as “Name · site”. You can also see who’s in our Discord voice channels from the chat, and new posts here are announced in both places.

New: screenshots, GIFs and clips

Got a clutch play? Tap the 📎 paperclip, or paste or drag a file straight into the chat. Add a caption if you like, and tap Spoiler to blur it until someone taps it.

• Images and GIFs up to 10 MB: PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF.
• Clips up to 60 seconds: MP4, MOV, WebM. iPhone videos are converted automatically so they play everywhere.
• Location data is removed from photos and videos automatically.

Squad up

• /lfg Warzone 3 9pm: find a squad. Others tap Join squad (or react ✅ on Discord).
• /poll Map? | Rust | Nuke: quick poll with live results (vote 1️⃣ 2️⃣ 3️⃣ on Discord).
• Game nights are pinned at the top with a countdown. Tap I’m in and you’ll get a reminder 15 minutes before.
• /roll 2d6: fair dice to settle who picks the map. Type /help for everything.

Chat like a pro

Type @ and a name to mention someone (it pings them on Discord too). Hover or tap a message to reply or react. You can edit for 15 minutes (press ↑ to edit your last message), and use **bold**, *italic* and `code`. Tap any name to see their profile. Every article on the site also has its own live discussion underneath it.

Put it on your home screen

Open alpha-unit.online/_chat/app for a full-screen chat app with notifications. No app store needed.

• iPhone / iPad: open it in Safari → Share ⬆️ → Add to Home Screen, open it from your home screen, then tap ⚙️ → 🔔. (Notifications need iOS 16.4 or newer.)
• Android: open it in Chrome → ⚙️ → Install (or ⋮ → Install app), then tap ⚙️ → 🔔.

Keep it GG

• Be decent: banter yes, abuse no. Same rules as our Discord.
• See something bad? Hover or tap the message (or open the image) and hit ⚑ to report it. Moderators are notified straight away.
• New accounts wait 24 hours before posting links, images or clips. This keeps spam bots out.
• Chat history, including images and clips, clears after 14 days.

See you in chat 👋 Tap the 💬 bubble to say hi.
